Star Trek Spotlight: Shatner Speaks!

shatnerFirst of all, congratulations to William Shatner on his sixth Emmy nomination! This honor is the fourth supporting-actor nod he's received for his portrayal of "Denny Crane" on the ABC series Boston Legal (he was nominated once before when the same character was introduced on The Practice). We'll be watching for him to collect the golden statue on September 21!

If you have enjoyed seeing Shatner in his many talk-show appearances, you'll definitely want to check out his VERY OWN talk show, titled Shatner's Raw Nerve. On stage with Leonard Nimoy on stage last year at the Las Vegas Convention, we thought he was just kidding around about starting his own edgy, probing chat show - and now it's about to become a reality. Nimoy, a long-time friend, will be one of his first guests.

According to the show's press release, "Shatner will explore life's most intriguing questions, and unearth stories that are most surprising, revealing, funny, touching or bizarre. The show will be unpredictable, allowing Shatner to work his magic on each guest in his own unique way."

The show will premiere on the Biography Channel next month, on August 19th at 10pm ET.

Remastered Trivia

After Gene L. Coon left Star Trek at the end of the second season, he almost immediately became the producer of It Takes a Thief for Universal Television. His four third-season TOS scripts were credited under his pseudonym Lee Cronin since he was under contract to Universal and therefore technically not supposed to be writing for other shows or studios.

This is according to Wikipedia, and was quickly noted by eagle-eyed fan Barbara Hamper. Thanks again, Barb!
